Intel 5300 AGN Wireless Network adapter drops connection in Win7

When connecting to a wireless N-Network my Xt2 drops quite often connection if certain amounts of data are transferred, i.e. mostly when the data rate is quite high > 5 MB/s.
Following different suggestions about disabling powermanagement, N-Network compatibility and even encryption, I tried different settings in the device driver in Win7.
Basically I changed just one entry:
Fat Channel Intolerant
and the disconnects went away.
Intels states to Fat Cannel Intolerant:
Fat Channel Intolerant
This setting communicates to surrounding networks that this Wi-Fi adapter is not tolerant of 40MHz channels in the 2.4GHz band. The default setting is for this to be disabled (turned off) so that the adapter does not send this notification.
Note These settings are available only if the adapter is an Intel® WiMAX/WiFi Link 5350, Intel® WiMAX/WiFi Link 5150, Intel® WiFi Link 5300, Intel® WiFi Link 5100 or Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN.

My opinion is, that the driver did not send this properly, got a wide 40 Mhz Channel and then dropped out.
This often occurs, if the data rate is increasing and quite large in order to ensure maximum bandwidth.
Any comments appreciated that would clear up this behaviour. Even more interesting would be some insights how this behaves in Linux.

Still the disconnects occur, but not so often.

With the newest driver from the dell Homepage the problems are gone till now. (27.08.2010)

It works till now with the current driver 3.15.0 directly from the Intel Homepage

Finally I did a reinstall  of Win7 due to some other concerns (Partitioning etc.) and with the default Win7 or Windows Update Driver it works completely flawless since 2 weeks.

Maybe the installs and uninstalls flawed something in the networking, basically, I don't care.

Drag and Drop not Working in Vista and Windows7

It might occur to you that your favorite Media Player (any other program might do the same) is not able to accept files added per Drag and Drop.
The most probable time for this behavior is right after install, when the installer starts the program the first time.
The installer of course has elevated rights for setup purposes and the program itself, too.
In this case Windows Vista + 7 forbid the drag and drop functionality for security reasons.

In most cases it is enough to just close and start the program again, now in non elevated mode.

You can reproduce this behavior by simply starting a program with elevated rights.

Fast Network, Fast disconnects (Linksys WRT610N )

Fast Network, Fast disconnects (Linksys WRT610N )
Looking forward to fast streaming HD Media over my new wireless router (WRT610N) I got into serious trouble on having a stable connection at all.

Having my network set up for WPA2 and TKIP for compatibility reasons, I got random disconnects of the whole 5 GHz band, while 2.4 GHz performed flawlessly. Searching the internet I stumbled across some serious accusations, that the WRT610N is a flawed design and overheats a lot.
Whether this is right or not I cannot say for sure, however I expected much more from Linksys and a home premium line product.

Searching a little more I came across another users experience that a change from the TKIP encryption to AES solved the problem of occuring disconnects.

And voila the problems seems to be solved.

So for everyone who can live with an AES only encryption on the 5 GHz 11N band and TKIP or AES on the 2.4 GHz 11g band the router is a perfect catch in both performance and appearance.
